Dear Colleagues,
Today weather was fine until early afternoon, but becomes a
typical rainfall in the early evening (until now), which
looks ISV matching with the diurnal cycle.

TL Mori, Many thanks for your information.
In Jakarta (at least from Thamrin through Blok M) there are not
so strong rainfall until now, except a light very local shower
yesterday. Probably the center the phase of ISV and that of
the diurnal cycle are not matched at least at present. Anyway
a strong wind observed yesterday at Nontongga may suggest a sub-
system developed both by ISV and diunal cycle.

MPR IOP @ Muara Putus Report, Dec 3 2011

Dear All,

Muara Putus team had been working for the setup works of LAN and power connection from MPR to our rental house since the first IOP day. The setup works were delayed several times due to bad weather and lack of supplies (the nearest tool shop was almost 10 km from MPR site) . Anyway, we finished all setup works this morning and finally, we could be working at a more comfortable environment now.

The monitoring task could be done inside our rental house (except for AWS) and we would not be interfered by unstable power supply from PLN.

The weather was mostly cloudy whole day, with 7/8 cloud cover and become severe in the late afternoon. The storm (without lightning) on Dec 2 was occurred at (9:30 UTC) 16:30 LT, almost at the same time with the previous day. The wind blew mostly from the north west direction, with the speed no less than 7 m/s.

A storm with the wind speed of more than 15 m/s (based on velocity data of MPR) was occurred today at 06:00 UTC (13:00 LT), and it hit most of coastal area in Tiku, Pariaman and Padang region. The wind was strong enough to throw our DAVIS AWS at MPR site and Nan Tongga Hotel out of their base. The DAVIS AWS on the top of Nan Tongga Hotel suffered heavy damages, mostly from the broken anemometer and raingauge. At that time, Kamimera was at MPR site and Ardhi was in Pariaman.

At the time this report was made (16:30 UTC/23:30 LT), a thunderstorm occured in Muara Putus. The monitoring works will be done by Ardhi tonight, until the shift changes tomorrow afternoon. Due to slow internet connection, the detail reports with pictures will be posted soon.

Regards from Ardhi @ Muara Putus
